Warehouse Manager

This is a position for a player-coach - a hands-on manager who is both an experienced team leader and an active team member.  The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for overseeing and participating in the timely and efficient completion of all aspects of pulling, staging and packaging orders, shipping and receiving, managing warehouse inventories, assembly and fabrication resource allocation, and the maintenance of equipment and facilities.  You must have experience supervising personnel and be able to provide strong references from people you manage or have managed.  

Applicants must have at least five years of commercial/industrial warehouse experience including formal training on a forklift and aisle picker. This position includes assembly and fabrication work utilizing various common shop tools, instruments and plastic welding equipment. As such, applicant must be able to demonstrate the high mechanical aptitude required to quickly learn to perform and supervise these processes. This includes assembly, testing and inspection of our engineered products prior to shipping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pipe, fitting, valve or related experience, especially valve actuation and assembly
  • Experience managing monthly warehouse expenses and annual budget
  • Quality Control / Quality Assurance experience
  • Welding training and experience 
  • Packaging and crate building experience
  • Shipping and receiving (UPS worldship software, common carrier estimating, etc.)

Requirements

  • ​Min. 5 years warehouse/shipping/receiving or assembly/fabrication experience
  • Min. 2 years’ experience supervising personnel in a small business environment
  • Previous industrial distribution, manufacturing, construction or mechanical/repair experience
  • Ability to read and add/subtract measurements in both standard (fractions) and metric systems
  • Basic computer skills in MS Excel, Word, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds routinely
  • High mechanical aptitude with willingness and ability to learn fabrication skills
  • History of maintaining workplace cleanliness and organization.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record
  • Ability to provide three references from current or former employers that we may contact.

Customer Service / Inside Sales

In this position you will handle incoming calls and inquiries from customers and prospects and be able to handle each encounter with professionalism and an attention to detail.  You will be responsible for systematically processing all customer-related inquiries and orders on a daily basis, developing and maintaining strong customer relationships with every encounter.  You will assist customers and outside reps with proper selection, and application of products, handling all requests for quotations, customer orders, lead times, and product information.

Candidates must have a high mechanical aptitude and be able to demonstrate the ability to quickly learn our products in order to help customers in the selection process.  He/she must have excellent active listening and communication skills and the ability to ask probing questions to understand and evaluate customer needs and uncover additional sales opportunities.  The Customer Service / Inside Sales employee is self-motivated, possesses a strong attention to detail, manages time efficiently, and is willing to wear multiple hats as the workload requires. Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree preferred.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers and Outside Sales reps by phone, e-mail and in-person. 
  • Provide prompt follow-up to customer inquiries regarding product availability, order status, delivery information, and problem resolution.
  • Perform order entry and provide accurate delivery date estimates.
  • With all leads and inquiries, qualify and uncover opportunities by asking key questions to properly identify the project, application, influencers, etc. entering notes into our CRM.
  • Increase sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, add-on sales and recommending alternate products.
  • Assist Outside Sales reps with quote preparation, competitive pricing, logistics, etc.
  • Make out-going calls to customers following up on requests for quotes and other inquiries concerning products and deliveries.
  • Maintain up to date contact interaction information in CRM. 
  • Attend and actively participate in Staff Meetings.


Requirements

  • 3-5 years of Customer Service or Inside Sales experience in a related field.
  • Experience with industrial, mechanical or technical sales or distribution (or similar/related business) 
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word and ability to learn company CRM software quickly.
  • Ability to formulate and deliver crisp communication that can be understood at all levels.
  • Excellent telephone handling skills.
  • Professional appearance and workplace habits with an outgoing and personable manner

Purchasing Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Assistant to join our growing company team. The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for the efficient processing of procurement for raw materials, merchandise, equipment and supplies to support our manufacturing, fabrication and distribution operations.  In this position you will work closely with the procurement manager and other employees to maintain inventory levels, expedite incoming shipments, control costs, and insure the accuracy of shipment status and purchasing and payable data in our system.  Daily tasks will include the ordering of materials, supplies, and/or equipment, data entry and file maintenance, and following through with vendors on shipment and delivery. 

Responsibilities 

  • Preparing purchase orders in both US dollars and foreign currencies.
  • Insuring accurate cost entry and maximizing available discounts and payment terms.
  • Requesting acknowledgements of purchase orders from vendors both foreign and domestic.
  • Communication with shippers and freight forwarders, obtaining freight cost and time estimates.
  • Tracing shipments to ensure timely delivery; Entry of and updating promised delivery dates.
  • Maintaining records and organized files for all purchasing-related matters.
  • Overseeing office equipment and supplies procurement.
  • Maintain up to date vendor interaction information in CRM. 
  • Perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in Staff Meetings

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years in an administrative purchasing or procurement assistant role.

Area Sales Manager (Outside Sales)

We are currently seeking experienced outside sales representatives with a track record of success selling engineered thermoplastics. We need highly motivated Area Sales Managers to help grow our industrial fluid and air-handling business in several regions of the US and South America including: South Central (TX, LA, OK, MS, AL, AK), Southwest, NorthWest, Midwest. 

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for developing sales and maintaining relationships with key accounts, distributors, and engineering firms within their regions.  The ideal candidate lives centrally in the region and is an experienced travelling sales representative - the assignment calls for significant domestic travel (+/-60%).  Responsibilities also include creating and/or changing specifications with engineers, mechanical contractors, OEMs and end users to achieve market share gains versus our competitors. Area Sales Managers track projects and pursue leads from various sources to identify all decision influencers and all potential applications for each of Simtech’s lines.  Experience required in at least two or three of the following market segments: Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, semi-conductor, chemical processing, pulp and paper, water/wastewater treatment, medical research/life sciences, food and beverage, mining and other energy sectors.      

Ideal skill set includes the following: Degree in sales or engineering OR equivalent experience with industrial plastics and/or chemical piping and fume exhaust systems; 5+ years' experience in an industrial sales environment including frequent travel and giving group presentations; outside sales experience with industrial distributor channels; Experience calling on plant owners and specifying engineers.
